To provide quality control and assurance, I collect, measure and test materials, which includes gravel and aggregate sampling and laboratory testing. I sample products from stockpile and production, and travel to customer sites for sampling as required to investigate and resolve complaints and issues.At all times I follow all company policies and occupational health and safety regulations for safe working procedures and environment, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas. Working in a team environment I assist co–workers and supervisors with additional duties as they arise.SPECIFICS:☞ I test all samples within stationary and mobile labs, carrying out gradation testing, fractured faces testing, Micro-Deval abrasion tests, Atterberg (plasticity) tests, and density tests.☞ Next, I perform data entry and retrieval using Stonemont software and Excel spreadsheets to store and organize information and prepare daily, weekly or monthly reports for customers and management.☞ I provide product quality information to sales staff for use in customer communications and quotes and immediately communicate any product noncompliance to supervisors.☞ All staff work rotating shifts, and as a result I spend only a few days each shift with my supervisor. I frequently carry out supervisory duties in her absence, such as attending daily meetings with department heads, and preparing and presenting reports.☞ As required, I operate Komatsu HD 605 and ADT 40 heavy haul trucks to transport materials around the quarry.☞ I also assist with management of stockpile inventories, to ensure distribution staff, sales staff, and management are aware of available quantities. SAFETY & SECURITY:☞ I sit on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and the Emergency Response Team. ☞ I was a member of the team returning to carry out security shifts following the wildfires in May/June 2016.

Working in locations across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, I sampled crushed products from blasted rock and alluvial deposits, alerting foreman and supervisor when products were out of specification. I also advised on optimal screen configurations in the crushing plant to achieve desirable results.SPECIFICS:☞ I carried out a variety of tests in a mobile lab including gradation testing to Department of Transportation (NS and NB) specs, flat/elongated testing, fractured face testing, and density testing to ASTM standards.☞ Working within a mobile and limited team, I was frequently required to adjust plans and schedules and to step in to help with a variety of duties including equipment repairs, screen changes, maintenance, and shovelling.☞ I worked rotating shifts (4 days on, 4 days off) plus took on additional shifts and worked nights as needed to meet deadlines.☞ I completed on-the-job training to learn techniques for gathering asphalt samples (lose and core-drilling) from paved road sections.
