I have been a licensed architect in Florida for over 14 years and in Arizona for over a year now. I am a graduate from the University of Michigan with a Master of Architecture degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Design from the University of Florida. I have been actively engaged in commercial and residential development, project design, project management, construction administration and construction documentation for over 30 years. I have been involved in many award wining projects including my own.Prior to joining Dekker from May 2023 to 2018 I was the senior project architect/manager of a 10-person firm in Florida. In 2014 I relocated back to Florida from California to form a commercial real estate company where I the architect was the developer. I purchased two pieces of land in downtown Sarasota designed and developed one four story multi-unit condominium project that was built. I also designed one seven story multi-unit condominium project that was approved and entitled by the city however not built. From 2008 to 2014 I entered real estate development in California where I purchased, renovated and sold over a dozen houses in the San Francisco Bay area. Prior to starting my own development companies I was a project designer/manger in Los Angeles at Gensler, Callison, Turner Meis+Associates and Nadel Architects where I engaged in large-scale mixed-use projects and sport facility renovations. While attending Graduate School at the University of Michigan I designed and produced the construction documents for my brother’s first stand-alone restaurant. After graduating I left the country to backpack abroad while looking for a job in the digital architecture world which was the focus of my graduate work. After interviewing with a select few design firms, I chose to work with Decoi Architects in Paris, France for over a year.Over the course of my career, I have worked in a variety of settings, including small design studios to large corporate firms as well as my own real estate development companies. I can relate to anybody and am approachable because I'm genuinely interested in what people have to say and respect their points of view. I understands my audience and know when to listen and when to speak. I always find ways to efficiently use the tools at hand to my advantage, rather than creating from scratch unless required. The term I like to use is “mining the details”. I enjoy the opportunity to help younger people in the profession as I have experienced and achieved many things (good and bad) from college through my current career path.
