Worked on the Karara Mining Project that is located 200 km west of Geraldton. Providing control expertise and developing PLC and SCADA standards and guiding project teams on project delivery.

During this time I worked in the Rio Tinto Innovations department working on proof of concept systems that would improve the cost efficiency of Rio Tinto's operations. Also worked on a number of upgrade projects for Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.

Rolled out modifications to PLC and SCADA systems for the Dampier To Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline 'Stage 5A' upgrades to 7 out of 10 compressor stations.

The roles and responsibilities are much the same as the previous ‘Systems Project Engineer’ role, however, with a greater emphasis on providing guidance and advice to the ‘Systems Engineers’ on solutions, and monitoring/controlling project costs and estimating future works from a technical level on behalf of the Sales team.

Duties included the design and development of PLC and SCADA projects on a small to medium scale. This included writing software code for all major manufacturers PLC’s & SCADA systems, additionally creation of documentation with an emphasis on testing and commissioning activities.

This was a second line support role. The key focus was to maintain and repair commercially sensitive baggage control equipment. I was also required to analyse the site systems, surveying and generating development needs for the control systems and design solutions to improve reliability and aid the operational teams in producing more efficient ways to.

Principle duties were to liaise with project teams and provide operational & maintenance input into projects and scheduling assistance into projects programs. Secondary duty was to compile a list of ‘common system equipment’ that would assist in providing standards between several unrelated new installations and overall reduce spares holding and training.

The main focuses of this role were to co-ordinate and supervise a local engineering team, ensuring that baggage equipment was serviceable at all times when required. In addition I was responsible for proactively monitoring system performance and analysing system common failure points and subsequently developing solutions to reduce problems areas and.

Duties included planned and reactive maintenance of airport equipment such as, but not limited to, power, lighting, HVAC, IT, moving walkways, air-bridges, escalators, X-ray equipment, lifts & auto doors.
