With a direct subordinate staff of 160 personnel, responsible for the day to day management and functionality of all assets and elements, spanning the entire Province of Ontario, and consisting of over 20 major units, bases, and formations. Total number of employees exceeds 13000. Annual operating budget is in excess of $250 Million with total value of assets exceeding $1 Billion. Responsibilities include management of human resources both military and civilian, oversight of all individual qualification training for personnel, coordination of training in preparation for international and domestic deployments, control of military elements in response to security and humanitarian crises within Ontario, as well as continuous management oversight of all infrastructure, vehicles, equipment and supplies

Led a multinational strategic planning team developing high-level NATO contingency plans in response to the crisis in Ukraine. Developed three highly sensitive, complex strategic plans for approval by multiple layers of NATO, including Supreme Allied Commander Europe, NATO Military Committee Brussels, and ultimately the NATO Defence Ministers at the NATO Summit in Wales, United Kingdom. Oversaw and worked collaboratively with a wide array of military and civilian personnel from over 20 different nations in building consensus and directing the common effort to the achievement of the end product.

Managed and coordinated the day to day operations and training of all elements of 4th Division. Was the principle point of contact with other government departments and security partners in the development and execution of response options for crises within Ontario. Worked extensively and collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure interoperability through common understanding of capabilities and synchronizing integration requirements. Direct engagement in training design, coordination and execution for both individual training, as well as larger scale training in preparation for operations abroad. Commanding Officer of a Light Infantry Battalion of over 700 personnel, including specialization in Parachute and Airmobile Insertion. During the two years in command, elements of the unit deployed on operations to Kandahar, Afghanistan, and the entire unit deployed to Huntsville, Ontario as the military security force in support of the G8 Summit. The unit was responsible for training its sister unit for deployment to Afghanistan. Highly successful timeframe for the battalion, with complex training deployments to Fort Bragg, North Carolina with US Army 82nd Airborne Division, Yuma, Arizona with the United States Marine Corps, major deployment of personnel to the US Army Air Assault Course, as well as full deployment to US Army National Training Center in Fort Irwin, CaliforniaThe unit regrouped to expand its total personnel strength to over 1100 and was assigned to security tasks at the G8 Summit. One year of interagency coordination and planning enabled successful military operations in support of interagency partners, including the RCMP and OPP. Operating collaboratively with partner agencies, from an integrated command cell to the execution of tactical actions on the ground, the unit was an instrumental component of the security apparatus protecting the G8 Summit.

Leading a Brigade-level headquarters team of 60 personnel, responsibilities included the day to day coordination and management of one of the Canadian Army’s largest tactical combat formations. Key responsibilities included planning and oversight of training requirements, combat casualty management, equipment stewardship, prioritization of tasks and operational outputs, as well as synchronization and hands-on management of operational deployment efforts

As the lead planner in the Strategic Planning Directorate in Army Headquarters, led a team of ten in the development of critical high-level plans in support of Army objectives. Key areas of development were mapping out the future governance framework and articulating the strategic vision of the commander.

A variety of experiences and locations during this time period, including tactical employment in 3 RCR (Mech) Germany, 2 RCR, and 3 RCR (Light) Petawawa, several overseas deployments, RSS with the Cape Breton Highlanders, academic upgrading, and military courses.Various leadership positions in the ranks of Second-Lieutenant to Major, managing between 10 and 200 personnel overseas and domestically. Developed and mentored soldiers and junior officers through training venues and career development opportunities.
