Profile bio

About Kevin Compton

The explosion of Virtual Reality (VR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Augmented Reality (AR) in the past few years has been wonderful to witness and take part in. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in developing and deploying VR, MR, and AR applications for several years now, and have always been pushing the technologies to anyone who was willing to try it at an enterprise level. Throughout the years of developing these applications and gaining buy-in within the business it has been motivating to see the support we have received for the implementation of these technologies. Over the years, my role has grown from developing applications, to managing the process of VR, MR, & AR implementation within the product lifecycle. From my experiences gained during my time in the Accelerated Development Program (A rotational program within Trane Technologies), to my previous experience with John Deere, I have seen very particular areas of application of VR, MR, and AR emerging. Having insight to how the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service organizations can utilize VR, MR, and AR has allowed for my team and I to find solutions to complex problems that occur within these organizations. This is a key part of my job that is the most fascinating to me: finding or developing solutions to complex problems using VR, MR, and/or AR. Sometimes this can be as simple as viewing a model in VR, or as complex as “Is it possible for VR to revolutionize the training process for employees?”.I have specialized in the development and implementation of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and Mixed Reality. Specifically, my technical specialties involve Unity Development, C# scripting for Unity, CAD import via Blender, CAD import via PiXYZ, Model optimization for VR, MR, & AR. Everything that I work on within these technologies are heavily based in data. Ranging from business cases, to Technology Understanding Levels, to managing Risks at the technology level as well as the project level. I am thrilled that my job involves looking into the future with these technologies, and I am ecstatic to be involved in writing this part of history. So much has been done, but there is so much yet to be accomplished. Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, and Augmented Reality are going to change the world in which we live and work.

Listed skills include Solidworks, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, Machining, and 29 others.
