With over 25 years of experience in international finance, sustainable development, and non-profit management, I am passionate about creating positive social and environmental impact through innovative and collaborative solutions. As the Executive Director of Coalition for Rainforest Nations, I lead a team of experts and partners who work to reconcile forest stewardship with economic development in over 50 tropical countries. I also serve as the Chairperson of Gotham Bar And Grill, a renowned restaurant in New York City that champions diversity, inclusion, and excellence in the culinary industry. In my current roles, I leverage my skills in dyslexic thinking, African affairs, and REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) to facilitate new and improved revenue streams for developing nations, as well as to promote fair trade and improved market access. I have been recognized as a Champion of the Earth by the United Nations Environment Programme and a Hero of the Environment by Time Magazine for my contributions to the global fight against climate change. I am always eager to learn from and connect with other professionals who share my vision and values.

The Programme was launched in 2008 and builds on the convening role and technical expertise of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The UN-REDD Programme supports nationally-led REDD+ processes and promotes the informed and meaningful involvement of all stakeholders, including Indigenous Peoples and other forest-dependent communities, in national and international REDD+ implementation. The Programme supports national REDD+ readiness efforts in 46 partner countries, spanning Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, in two ways: (i) direct support to the design and implementation of UN-REDD National Programmes; and (ii) complementary support to national REDD+ action through common approaches, analyses, methodologies, tools, data and best practices developed through the UN-REDD Global Programme. By July 2012, total funding for these two streams of support to countries totaled US$117.6 million.
