I am an experienced Actuary and Programme Director with over 30 years of successful delivery of business critical finance and actuarial projects for some of the largest UK and international insurance groups. My speciality is leading projects with budgets up to £50m and tight timescales involving adherence to legislative, regulatory or mandatory requirements, such as Solvency II, Embedded Value and cross border Restructuring. My experience includes acting as an external consultant, working as an employee within an insurer and more recently as a consultant through my own company.With strong interpersonal and team leading skills, my projects have involved systems development, particularly actuarial modelling, process change and people and culture change. In the last 10 years, I have worked with the largest UK insurers, as well as pan European and worldwide subsidiaries, to deliver group or regional requirements. I have a thorough understanding of life insurance business and processes, having worked in all areas of a life insurance company.Major projects have included:- Leading a team of 50 to rebuild the actuarial models for a FTSE100 insurer- Leading a team of 35 to develop and produce projected balance sheets to support a pan European restructuring for a global insurer- Drafting a strategy for significantly improving the elapsed times for financial reporting, with a focus on the integration of IFRS, EEV and Solvency II reporting and allowing for expected change for IFRS17- Implementation of European Embedded Value reporting in Aviva, the first implementation of this reporting metric worldwide- Restructuring actuarial modelling and product support teams - Scoping and re-planning the £25m modelling activity for a UK insurer’s Solvency II project- Leading design, build and test of a with-profits actuarial model for the UK subsidiary of a global insurer- Providing independent SME advice to a number of insurers to support their business activities, including Solvency II gap analyses, software purchase decisions and target operating models
