Hi. My name is Kevin Drennan and I am a junior at the University of South Carolina in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications. I am working toward a Bachelor of Arts, Journalism and Mass Communications degree. I am studying advertising, with a concentration in sports media. That being said, I have taken courses that have me well-rounded in the advertising field as well as courses that teach me about the influence that sports media has on today's society and how its influence has changed over the course of time. These classes include, but are not limited to: Principles of Advertising and Brand Communication, Law and Ethics of Mass Communications, Sports Media and Society, Writing for Mass Communications, and Toolkit for Concept Development.My biggest strength is definitely communication. Since I was a very young child, my mom had always said to me how much she admired my ability to talk to and socialize with anyone, especially at such a young age. To this day, this is still something that I excel at. Through my work experience, whether it was at one of the restaurants I worked at or the golf course, customer service and communication were always the two characteristics that were stressed the most. It is so important to be able to efficiently communicate with anyone you meet, whether it is in a social setting or a professional setting. One's ability to communicate and willingness to communicate is typically the first thing people notice besides overall appearance. With that knowledge, communication is key to making a good first impression as well as a lasting impression. I am excited to see what the future holds for me. I am looking for opportunities that will allow me to work on my current skills, while also developing new skills that will help me grow as a person, both individually and professionally.
