As an educator, I believe strongly in student-centered education. It is the student's job to learn the material, but it is my job as an educator to do everything within my power to allow the student to be able to learn what I am teaching. That means regularly adapting my teaching style to assist others as they learn in varying styles. It means coming in early and staying late. It means going above and beyond regularly to ensure that the needs of my students are met. The rest is up to my student.As a professional, I believe in giving back to the profession that has given so much to me and my family. I have volunteered for over 10 years with the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, providing my expertise where they accept it to make the National Physical Therapy Exam the best it can be. I also have held various positions/offices in my professional organization over the last 20 years (American Physical Therapy Association). I have served as a volunteer on-site reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), and I am the past Secretary elect to my profession's state chapter (NCPTA). I recently completed a 3 year term as co-editor of the Journal of Physical Therapy Education (2017-2020). My most recent endeavor is as Editor-in-Chief of the APTA Academy of Acute Care’s journal- the Journal of Acute Care Physical Therapy. I look forward to reading your submission.
