Extended Paternity BreakExtended Paternity Break Nov 2019 - Dec 2020In mid-2019 I made a personal prioritisation decision to take a career break. My first child was born in April 2019 and, after 20+ years of giving 101% of myself to my career, I wanted to ensure I played more than a peripheral role in his early life. This wasn't an easy decision and I know how fortunate I was to be in a position to be able to make it but, as the cliché goes, you only get the opportunity once. The time I had with my partner and son was tremendously cathartic - everything I hoped and more - and the time out of work has afforded me the opportunity to follow-up on other back-burner personal priorities and do a healthy amount of self-discovery and learning.
