I'm one of the few that heard my calling in the 7th grade and never looked back. At that time I knew very little about architecture and decades later I've learned a lot, but still learn every day! This is and amazing profession, it's technical, it's sales, it's DESIGN all this begins with a vision and moves to reality. Simply put GREAT DESIGN has the POWER to help people live, or work, their best lives. We are driven to improving our clients lives.... we do that through the voice of architecture.Today the legacy drives me. The legacy is two-fold. It begins with the people. Our people. They are doing amazing things around the country. When I began my professional journey at SLAM we were a regional firm with our Hartford office. Today we are closing in on 300 and 9 locations. Our people's talent continues to be recognized and leads us to groundbreaking work in education, science, healthcare, sports and corporate work. The second legacy that drives me is simply the built environment. Knowing these designs can begin as a sketch on napkin and end up outliving us for many decades - maybe centuries blows me away. Our designs help teach, compete, heal and discover. They do this for thousands of clients, employers, employees, students, athletes, scientists, healthcare workers every year. Multiply that by decades and it's a warming feeling! As I walk through a newly constructed design I am simply humbled. This can only be done through the commitment of my fellow SLAMmers, the challenges and input from our clients driven to improve their business and then I think about the hundreds of tradesman and their managers that deliver highly crafted facilities! I am lucky to have heard my calling early and I'm fortunate to work with, and for, dedicated, driven and creative people!
