Arker Warehouse is a service-based construction company installing industrial fixtures in US warehouses and factories. Operating primarily in America's Rust Belt, Arker is a team of highly skilled technicians with expertise in the design and installation of unique fixtures and storage components in commercial and industrial spaces. My roles included support for early Design, Composition and Generation of initial web content for brand development, & the Development of HR protocols, Client Contracts and CAD standards we now use in the office.

I built digital tools for Architects and Urban Planners to coordinate design and analysis between multiple software platforms. My responsibilities included oversight of a staff-orientated knowledge sharing program and development of an internal eLearning platform for a group of over 80 designers.

Developed and presented material design concepts for projects in execution. Completed tasks include: Architectural development, fabrication of material design concepts, model building, rendering and photography.

This assignment contributes to the research of 3D printed clay: working with the Department of Computer Science and Operations Research to develop computer simulations of AM processes. My contribution includes setting up the digital fabrication lab, establishing Standard Operating Procedures and helping to develop a trajectory of experiments to achieve two primary goals: -Understand the structural stability of 3D printed clay parts & -Predict where the printed parts will likely crack and split during the drying and firing processes. As the research continues, we will develop and propose optimization strategies to help designers avoid failure of digitally manufactured parts.

My roles include designing architectural prototypes using Wyss- AMT technologies, constructing exhibitions, leading journal publications and supporting research experiments for scientific documentation.The Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard uses Nature’s design principles to develop bioinspired materials and devices that will transform our environments to create a more sustainable world.

Developed, designed and initiated the research and production of “Ceramic Morphologies,” showcasing the industrial application of 3D printed ceramics guided with a thermally active surface strategy. Contributions to the Wyss Institute research include designing architectural prototypes using Wyss- AMT technologies, constructing exhibitions, leading journal publications and supporting research experiments for scientific documentation.

Instructed students and faculty on the production of CNC cut models, components and technical design features in the School’s fabrication lab. Survey and advise the safe operation of traditional shop tools and equipment. Consult and instruction for tooling and control of 5 & 6-axis robotic arms in bespoke student projects.Pursuing the understanding, development, and deployment of innovative technologies and robotic fabrication in the promotion of design as an agent of change in architecture.

Produced and edited content for a K-12 design education website and corresponding publication of NEXT.cc.NEXT.cc is an eco web that develops ethical imagination and environmental stewardship. NEXT.cc introduces what design is, what design does, and why design is important. It offers activities across nine scales – nano, pattern, object, space, architecture, neighborhood, urban, region, and world. NEXT.cc’s journeys introduce activities online, in the classroom, in the community and globally. NEXT.cc journeys and activities are supported with links to museums, institutions and contemporary practices. The eco web network of journeys provides a solid foundation for newly established NAAEE North American Association of Environmental Education standards with place based design activities that address the five goals of environmental education: Awareness, Knowledge, Attitudes and Environmental Ethic, Citizen Action Skills, and Citizen Action Experiences. NEXT.cc is based on Wisconsin Art and Design Standards and Common Core State Standards. Now set to NEXT Generation Science Standards for K-2, 3-5 and 6-8, NEXT.cc delivers NGSS Cross Cutting Concepts through transdisciplinary activities. NEXT.cc plans to reach young people, their teachers and their families with meaningful learning experiences that create positive influence on lives and outcomes.
