Better Insights was a consulting company I founded after leaving Headspring. After an initial focus on implementing business intelligence solutions, I began working as a virtual CTO for a number of organizations located in Austin, Texas.

Headspring's founder, Dustin Wells, made me his first significant full-time hire after initially growing the company via contractors. During my time at Headspring, I played a critical role in growing the business by a factor of more than 15 times. I served as the company's Chief Architect and later EVP of Client Service, responsible for the successful execution of all of our client engagements and renewal sales opportunities. I served more than 100 organizations during my tenure at Headspring of all sizes and across several industries including Technology, Oil and Gas, State and Local Government, Manufacturing, and Construction. I played a particularly important role in the sales process for new opportunities and in the definition of solution strategies, project plans, and software architectures.

I worked as a senior .NET software developer to develop a Sarbanes-Oxley compliance management software application.

I led several .NET software development initiatives for a large insurance industry client including an automated insurance quote pricing system and a web-based benefits enrollment system.

I worked as a senior .NET developer in Sebring's internal IT team to develop a loan origination system for subprime mortgages that integrated with an automated loan approval engine and the three major credit reporting agencies (CRAs).

I worked as a senior .NET software developer to build tools to assist with CSI's voir dire consulting practice.

I worked as a software development consultant to deliver .NET software solutions for a number of clients including Ryder Integrated Logistics (in Dallas), Dallas Market Center, Measured Progress (in Portsmouth, NH), and Star HRG (in Phoenix). Hitachi Consulting acquired the company that hired me, Tactica Technology Group, two months after I joined.

I spent 2.5 years at Pervasive Software as a web developer while attending university, alternating semesters between full-time employment in Austin and part-time employment in College Station. I developed web applications on Pervasive Software's proprietary development platform, Tango. After the Tango business was sold, I transitioned to Java development to build user interfaces for Pervasive's database product Pervasive.SQL (formerly Btrieve).

While attending university, I worked as an independent contractor developing database solutions using Microsoft Access. My clients included Sheshunoff Consulting in Austin, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter (MSDW) in Austin, and River City Bus Company in San Antonio.

I worked as a software development intern at GTE during the summer it was acquired by Bell Atlantic and rebranded to Verizon. I developed a new Microsoft Access database to manage the long-term planning of GTE's mobile networking equipment in the field, a functional area GTE referred to as Broad Gauge Engineering (BGE).

I developed features in a proprietary language, PROTEL, which were included in Nortel's mobile switch operating system (MSOS) to enable system configuration.

While attending my last two years of high school, I worked part-time as a Microsoft Access developer. I developed a database solution to track customer rewards for loyalty programs sold to small (mostly family-owned) restaurants. The solution ran on-premise and was integrated with a magnetic stripe reader to scan customer loyalty cards and a dot-matrix printer to generate coupons for future visits.
