Member of the core development team for DiffPy-CMI–object oriented Python based software used in industry and academia for analysis of large heterogeneous data sets. Implemented large scale global optimization algorithm to solve nanoparticle structure on supercomputing cluster for Department of Energy big data pilot project at SC14 conference. Characterized the role of nanoscale fluctuations in strongly correlated electron systems including cuprate semiconductors, manganites, and charge density wave materials.

Pioneered experimental technique to perform first ever photoemission experiments on free standing exfoliated graphene. Measured surface morphology and electronic bandstructure of nanostructured surfaces including exfoliated and epitaxial graphene and one-dimensional metallic nanowires. Developed analytical technique for correlating graphene surface roughness with measured single particle band-structure. Led all stages of experimental process with international collaboration: planning and proposal, data analysis, paper writing and submission.

Improved performance of numerical stock valuation model through quantitative analysis and back-testing. Responsible for producing daily technical research reports for institutional investors.
