Undergraduate Researcher
Current- Working in the Water Lab, studying the formation of hardly detectable organic contaminants, known as disinfection byproducts (DBPs), in treated wastewater by using derivatizing techniques to identify DBP precursors (i.e., amine orders) and gas chromatography to quantify DBPs- Complete weekly tasks, including meticulous glassware, disinfecting and solution standardizing (NaClO) while practicing general lab etiquette and developing vital lab skills including micro pipetting, spectrophotometer usage, and solution making/diluting- Attend lab meetings where graduate and Ph.D. students share their research findings, and engage in academic discussions with higher individuals regarding highly technical chemical and engineering research and proposals
