About Kevin Layer

I am a Data Scientist with four years experience working for GM Financial developing models and getting insights for the Remarketing operations: developing and maintaining pricing models for off-lease vehicles for the US and Canada, improving the distribution model of vehicles from distribution centers to auctions, evaluating the performance of AI powered inspection services, developing monitoring reports to validate pricing accuracy and recent trends. Most of my work is in SAS and some in Python with Azure Databricks.Beforehand I graduated with a PhD in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University in December 2019 where I also was working as a research assistant on company projects for a large manufacturing company in Houston. I was part of a team of graduate students that I led during my last year, and worked closely with our partners in the company to develop Excel VBA based tools that helped users in their operational and sometimes more strategic decision making.During my thesis I worked on developing estimation methods that can be used to get insights on productivity of an industry. In particular I applied these methods on a US hospital data set.
