- Deployment led innovation designed to drive down the soft costs of energy storage deployment, meet aggressive commissioning timelines and increase speed of issue diagnosis/resolution.- Design, validation and deployment of DER management systems for utilities, commercial/industrial and microgrid customers.

CELI is a fellowship program dedicated to education and networking young professionals in the clean energy space. Over the next 14-weeks I'll be studying policy, markets and technology alongside 30 amazing peers and presenting my outlook on the industry in a final capstone presentation/business pitch.

Controls Development and Operation- Built consensus and drove the development of Natel's control system product, a software and electrical framework for use in field installations and in-house testing equipment.- Assessed needs of both internal turbine product development team and needs of power plant owners/operators- Maintained data services for field installations and in-house testing. (Grafana and InfluxDB)- Plant operations support including mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, retrofits and data analysis.- General support for hydropower project development including electrical design and energy modeling.- Trained/assisted new team members.Product Testing- Proposed and planned a 230kW in-house hydraulic facility to test the efficiency and durability of Natel's turbine product.- Built the electrical portion of this facility including: the design and management of a feeder upgrade and selection and installation of VFD drives, switchgear, induction motors, and Natel's OEM control system product.- Led electrical aspects of commissioning effort, set priorities and hit milestones as required by turbine product team.- Built strain-gage systems for verifying computational fluid models (CFD).

- Responsible for technical design, budget, and timeline for a 30kWp solar + storage microgrid.- Moved the project though key initial phases successfully securing project funding and establishing memorandums of agreement with donors and beneficiaries.- Trained coworkers and technicians in battery maintenance and solar system instrumentation.- Coordinated the study of off-grid energy centers and their ability to power agriculture and food processing activities. - Trained/assisted new team members.

Cycled 10,000km from Vancouver to Nicaragua researching renewable energy and energy access. Conducted interviews along the way with Aura Solar, ACCIONA Energia, Fortius Solar, Kingo Energy, Alerna Impact, NRECA and the Inter-American Development Bank on which I wrote several blog posts.

Product Development Engineer - Agile Role- Tasked with entering a new market, formulated requirements to maximize new product value. Generated feature requirements for the product and drove implementation sprints with our 5-person software team. - Oversaw the product roadmap and delivered alpha, beta and production ready releases.- Worked with customers on beta implementations. Delivered data-driven sales presentations to corporate purchasers.- The product generated $1 million sales in its first 2 years, earned a patent and won an international business award.Mechatronics Systems Engineer- Designed, implemented and tested UI (WPF/XAML), backend algorithms and software (C#), Modbus communication, and PLC firmware (Siemens S7).- Performed data analysis on large SQL datasets and wrote data-driven reports for our customers.- Created and documented the electrical system layout and created PCB specifications.- Managed bill of materials, designed mechanical parts and coordinated with local manufacturers.- Trained/assisted new team members.
