I worked extensively with Nanotechnology during my Ph.D, researching Integrated Optics (i.e. manipulating light on a microchip). Afterwards, I traveled for 2 years, mostly in Developing countries. During my travels, I developed an interest in International Development, so when I returned I joined an early stage startup working at the intersection of technology development and international development, developing low-cost technology for communities in the Developing World. I later returned to my roots in Integrated Optics and joined a former labmate in building HyperLight, which has developed a new platform for super high speed electro-optical devices.

My specific area was in optical frequency comb (OFC) generation using on-chip microresonators. I successfully generated OFC's in wavelength ranges where they had never been demonstrated before: the visible and the mid-infrared.
