I was responsible for building and running LI Ltd's operational delivery and the ops team, ready to run key services for the Government and for the livestock industry.

Took a major role in creating a new strategy for the organisation, working to the new CEO. Worked with a very talented team to build a plan and momentum behind the new strategy.

Key achievements: ● My operations and digital team delivered over 1 million new people online 9 months ahead of schedule and below budget. ● Launched a new learning website on a new technology platform – saving 75% of IT costs – with great feedback from users, centres and partners such as the BBC● Successfully created a new Staff-Owned, public service mutual while winning our contract through an OJEU process.

Initiated and led a cross-Home Office and cross-Government project to develop a strategic policy covering checking and vetting in all its forms for about 12 million employees and to develop a more user friendly and efficient set of processes for delivering the service, using digital as a key channel.

A nine month secondment to lead thinking about refreshing the Transformational Government Strategy; creating a Government IT strategy with a number of underpinning elements (green IT, digital inclusion, open source).

I led the review team, working to Sir Ian Magee to develop a set of practical recommendations to improve the use of information to tackle crime. The remit was broad – all criminal justice organisations in the UK and also the exchange of information within the EU and internationally.

I led a newly created information and technology Directorate, with responsibilities within the Department, across the education sector and additionally playing a major role across Government. Core budget of £28m plus several multi-million pound additional projects and 230 staff.
