Gained exposure to multiple engineering departments to capture a glimpse of all aspects of the business. This experience provided me with a solid foundation and prepared me for the cross-functional culture present in the workplace. Each rotation taught different essential job tasks as found below:Process Team- Supported plant and work with plant processes, machines, machine programs, line efficiencies, etc. - Performed time studies and line balancing by analyzing data/takt time calculations- Researched and validated new tooling, machines, methods, or technology for production- Completed capability studies for new tooling, machines, and processes- Assisted with continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, orproduction- Worked on corrective/preventive actions such as mistake proofing, work instructions, visual aids,training, etc.Product Team- Reviewed and interpreted customer prints and specifications- Assisted with new product quotations- Created BOMs using Epicor ERP system- Created JEI process sheets for production use from customer prints- Validated and reviewed new products- Assisted with APQP projectsQuality Team- Assisted in corrective actions and root cause analysis (8Ds, 5 Whys, and Fish Bonemethods)- Supported customers with containment actions and return authorization process- Coordinated supplier returns and non-conformances- Supported PPAP documentation as well as Supplier PPAP review / approval

I spent the term of my internship on the Innovation team where I got to learn about the company, see current projects, and many of the operations that occur to support air travel. In addition, I was tasked with two projects for the summer.Project 1 (beginning of internship):Involved in correcting hundreds of data entry errors for a project which installed GPS beacons onto non-motorized GSE equipment used to support operations. Discovered quickly that the corrections I was making would sometimes revert back to their incorrect name. Notified the responsible parties of the issue and after some time the vendor was able to replicate the issue on their end and find a fix. The importance of this project was to be able to identify each piece of equipment being tracked. Project 2 (second half of internship):In charge of obtaining GPS locations for electric GSE charging infrastructure at each US hub location. Involved communicating with supervisors from each hub to coordinate a time and person to escort me around each airport while obtaining the GPS locations. These GPS points were then used to create a map of where each charger is as well as how many each hub has. The importance of this project was to simplify the process of knowing where the chargers are as well as obtain information about the infrastructure as airports slowly move toward zero-emission solutions.
