He returned to his hometown of Norfolk in 2005 to be closer to family and participate in the revitalization of downtown.Mr. Murphy is the 2014 recipient of the Roy Badgley Distinguished Service Award, given annually by the Downtown Norfolk Council to the volunteer of the year.
