I'd worked here for one year as inbound / outbound customer support. I answered questions about optic fiber and its deployment via KPN (at the time KPN Netwerk) via mail and phone. For complicated questions I would reach out to other departments who were more versed on the topic, to eventually help the people who would come to us on a daily basis. Eventually I was given responsibility over social media communications as well, and due to my sense of responsibility and wanting to help (new) colleagues get settled, I was tasked to monitor- and guide colleagues whenever they had questions or struggles. I wanted to contribute to a departmental culture where questions wouldn't bring a sense of shame for not knowing something, but rather be praised for acknowledging one's desire to learn. After one year of working, I was sadly let go due to a new policy that disallowed KPN to provide me with a contract, as I was working via a staffing agency. From what I have experienced, I can safely say that my colleagues have grown thanks to my perspective- and ethics, and I have grown even more thanks to their welcoming mentality and professionality.
