I currently work within a team of 4 providing fast and effective HR support to a workforce of around 500 employees.I look after the full employee life cycle from advertising jobs and issuing employment contracts right through to issuing contract variations and dealing with the exit process.I offer first line guidance to managers and employees on a variety of HR related policies; this includes the sickness policy and maternity/ paternity leave policy.In addition to the above I prepare general reports; one in particular is the leavers exit interview report. I produce a quarterly report to highlight trends within leavers with the intent to use the data to try and improve employee retention.

I previously worked for the British Transport Police; I worked within Human Resources specialising in Policy and Engagement.In my role I ensured the Force remained legally compliant with legal changes i.e. with the new Children and Families Act 2014 which allowed all employees the statutory right to apply for flexible working. In addition to the legal changes I worked on assisting the Force in its bid to achieve its 20:20:10 strategic goal, I wrote and developed policies which created the back bone of HR to ensure we had policies that were clear, concise and user friendly. Whilst writing and amending current policies was a large part of the role I had to deal with the consultation process of new policies to ensure what we produced was what the Force required. In addition to policy writing I dealt with general quires from our HR department; I was the single point of contact for HR professionals who needed assistance on the interpretation of the policy or wider law.Engagement within the Force was high on my agenda, I regularly sent communications, the key stories from within the business, changes to policies and any other information employees/ HR teams are required to be made aware of. Attached you will see some examples of my work, I have attached a copy of the latest Maternity, Paternity, Adoption and Shared Parental leave policy. I combined around 6 previous policies to create a new policy which was shorter, more concise, a lot more user friendly and included the recent legal changes around Shared Parental Leave and the hot topic of Surrogacy and who has the right to maternity leave.In addition to the policy I have attached training material that will be used to educate the HR advisors and be used as a source of reference in the future. Copies of the forms that will be used are also attached for reference.

In my first role working for BTP it was my duty to assist the Recruitment Advisor with the recruitment of new Student Officers and PCSO’s. I arranged and facilitated assessment centers, completed all pre-employment checks and issued offer letters and contract packs.

Working for South Warwickshire Foundation Trust I worked within the Medical Staffing Department which looked after the Trusts doctors. I dealt with all the locum and temporary doctors. I arranged shift cover, dealt with agencies and negotiated rates for locum doctors.

When I worked for Birmingham and West Midlands hospitals Trust it was my duty to look after the Recruitment within the Trust. I managed vacancies from start to finish. I advertised vacancies on NHS jobs, I would then send the shortlisting to the Recruiting manager before inviting candidates to interviews. Upon completion of the interviews I would complete pre-employment checks and issue contracts. Finally I complied the personal files before sending them to the recruiting manager. In addition to the basic day to day work, I used to train recruiting managers how to use the E recruitment system and I would partake in interviews when necessary.

I worked as a HR generalist working across a variety of specialisms, dealing with general HR quires. Whilst in this role I focused heavily on the implementation of E- Learning within the Trust. I managed the project from the design stage through the implementation process right through to final embedment within the Trust. Upon departure of this role I managed to make the Trust the 3rd highest user of E-Learning within the Midlands.
