For these past 14years, I have been self-employed in the catering sector, where I was the main managing operator, with support from staff as well as my wife. In July 2019 I closed my cafeteria and snack bar that I was running simultaneously in Mriehel and took over a new cafe bar in Marsascala, which I still run today together with my wife. We are very successful in this regard when considering the circumstances during the past 2 years of the pandemic, however, due to Covid19 restrictions in March 2020 and 2021, we were made to close by the government, as part of the restrictions. During the period that we were closed, it made me realize other aspects of life and family values that I never enjoyed because it’s not possible when you run a catering business. So we made a very difficult decision and decided to reduce our 10-year lease contract to a 5-year contract and eventually terminate our lease contract if the right candidate comes forward. This opportunity will give me the initiative to seek other rewarding career opportunities. We now have reached an agreement with the right person to take over our business. He runs a locally formed franchise that’s taking up our business and introducing his product to the locals.Before these 14 years, I also worked in the home and office furniture sales and design sector with various established local companies where I used to monitor that the project is terminated as per contract agreement and to the client's satisfaction. I also worked in home care products with a well-known local company where my position was to grow the company's business by offering incentives to our clients in return for more visual and advantageous shelving positions together with merchandise support.
