Kevin has extensive experience in natural resource planning and management, community cultural development, food systems, ecological restoration and commercial fishing. Kevin commercially fished for salmon in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska from 1976 to 1996. From 2001-09, Kevin served as the Coordinator, then Basin Advocate, for the Walla Walla Watershed Alliance. He has served as the manager of Vinea Sustainable Trust, a vineyard & winery organization in the Walla Walla Valley, and is a consultant to Salmon-Safe, a third-party certifier of sustainable and fish friendly land management practices. Kevin currently leads a Salmon-Safe Project to explore how the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation’s River and Uplands Visions, based on their First Foods, can inform Salmon-Safe Certification Standards. Kevin’s consultant business is Kooskooskie Fish LLC, an Oregon Benefit LLC. During his tenure as the Walla Walla Watershed Alliance Basin Advocate, Kevin played a central facilitating role in the development of the Walla Walla Watershed Partnership (Partnership). The Partnership was chartered by unanimous consent of the Washington State Legislature as a ten-year experiment to develop innovative water management plans that simultaneously provide certainty in water withdrawals and generate increased stream flow. Kevin owns and operates Forever Wild Seafood, which is developing value-added wild salmon products, and is co-founder of The Wave Foundation, which is designing The Wave Marketplace. Kevin serves on the Marine Fish Conservation Network Board and National Policy Council. He is Board President of the Sustainable Fisheries Foundation, and Board Chair of Global Ocean Health.
