Our lab and field demonstrations aimed to improve grid efficiency, reliability, flexibility, and stability, while increasing renewable energy integration and achieving cost savings.In T&D Innovation, I led Substation Systems & Applications, evaluating precommercial solutions to improve electrical reliability and resiliency through advanced Protection, Automation, and Control schemes. We aimed to digitize substations by virtualizing appliances and implementing advanced protection platforms. I also managed Advanced Grid Solutions, covering both Transmission and Distribution, with projects like developing a live digital twin, decentralized load restoration, machine learning for prediction and inspection, and safety tools like augmented reality.Public and governmental engagement was a key aspect of my role, due to various external funding sources. I co-administered the CPUC EPIC program, facilitating project topics with my teams. My responsibilities included legal review, reporting, socializing projects, guiding program projects, and presenting or participating in panels at public and private engagements.
