In this role, I managed teams in Grid Edge Innovation and Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Innovation. I oversaw Grid Edge Analytics & Control, evaluating and demonstrating precommercial solutions for utility-scale microgrids. These microgrids combine centralized power grids with localized generation systems to enhance grid resilience, integrate renewables, manage demand, provide cost savings, and promote sustainability.I also directed Grid Edge Systems Integration, focusing on utility-scale energy storage and vehicle-to-grid integration. Our lab and field demonstrations aimed to improve grid efficiency, reliability, flexibility, and stability, while increasing renewable energy integration and achieving cost savings.In T&D Innovation, I led Substation Systems & Applications, evaluating precommercial solutions to improve electrical reliability and resiliency through advanced Protection, Automation, and Control schemes. We aimed to digitize substations by virtualizing appliances and implementing advanced protection platforms. I also managed Advanced Grid Solutions, covering both Transmission and Distribution, with projects like developing a live digital twin, decentralized load restoration, machine learning for prediction and inspection, and safety tools like augmented reality.Public and governmental engagement was a key aspect of my role, due to various external funding sources. I co-administered the CPUC EPIC program, facilitating project topics with my teams. My responsibilities included legal review, reporting, socializing projects, guiding program projects, and presenting or participating in panels at public and private engagements.

Managed a team of Protection and Automation engineers. Responsibilities include negotiation and maintenance of service contracts, operating budget, hiring, promotions and recognition, performance review, time records, and subject matter direction.

As a Senior Engineer, provided subject matter expertise for control logic programming in the area of Protection and Automation. The primary focus was the safe and reliable circuit restoration immediately after load interruption by a protection event. The secondary focus was the efficient automated control of VAR and voltage regulation of the power grid. Overall responsibilities cover all aspects of substation protection and automation utilizing the IEC 61850 standard.

Provided substation interface support for Linux based and Windows Server based systems located in power substations. Modified existing systems with updates that integrated new or replacement protection and control equipment. Provided, commissioning, break-fix and troubleshooting support for approximately 600 automated systems in over 50,000 square miles.

Designed and implemented custom, as well as OEM, control systems for a snack food equipment manufacturer. These systems included a mix of PLC and relay controls. Responsible for equipment design/redesign were sequence of operation, hardware selection, costing, electrical design, programming, testing, and international field startup.

Mobilized for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Deployed to manage the flow of over 2400 tons of cargo, to over 100 ports in 25 countries, under the authority of the US Military.
