I started at Racing Post as a developer working on producing data extracts for the newspaper and books. During the next twenty plus years I gained a deep insight into both horse racing and greyhounds racing, as well as technical knowledge of digital production, such as content management and publishing systems.One of my major projects was authoring the Racing Post website, working along side very talented people we were able to deliver a fantastic product to it's vistors.I also spent 18 months working in RP Labs which was an R&D unit focussed on digital product and content innovation within the racing and sports betting industry.

Assisted in the development of a system to enhance the process of order placement and delivery of the food to various outlets such as restaurants and pubs.

Worked on developing a system to track items when shipping tracking power steeering pumps to the USA.

Started with work expierence, I was then offered a 2 year apprenticeship, whilst working within the planning departmaent I built a shop loading system using FoxPro which controlled the volume of work for each machine on the factory floor, from this the planning department was quickly able to plan projects. This was still be used right up to the closure of offices in Rochester in excess of 5 years later.It was then offered a job with the IT department, which was where my interest lied.
