My grandfather was a master storyteller. Throughout my life, I have spent countless hours hearing him tell (and retell) incredible stories of growing up on a farm in Eastern Washington, of flying (and crashing) airplanes both large and small, and of fishing and hunting big game near his home in Alaska. Many years ago, when he told me to “work smarter, not harder,” I thought he coined the phrase. Of course, I now know that it dates back further, but I think of him each time I hear it and aim to live it in my career. I’m a storyteller too—focused on digital transformation, exploring how to fundamentally change the way customers interact with data to simplify and streamline common interactions. Working with key business leaders to create a digital strategy that helps them achieve business objectives is what gets me up in the morning. As a change agent who builds bridges between people and technology, I know whom to bring around the table, how to build consensus, and when to push the envelope.
