Developing and maintaining new features for the Asura audio engine

PhD on Spatial hearing augmentation and hearing devices. In collaboration with the Eriksholm Research Center.Also continued my work on the BEARs project and other research projects involving Unity VR development on a more casual basis following the start of my PhD.Ended up leaving to pursue audio software development, but managed to contribute to a few papers on spatial audio/perception!

Working on the BEARs (Both Ears) project - A set of VR/AR auditory training games for children/teenagers with cochlear implants with the aim of improving auditory perception. Specifically working on spatial speech understanding and localisation training.

Interned at SCHOEPS for my placement year. Work involved - - Developing the microphone measurement system- Researching virtual microphones produced with microphone arrays and their comparison with real microphones.- Performing listening tests with microphones in development- DSP engineering- Plugin development- Working with spatial audio- Producing and editing tutorial and marketing videos for new products.

Interned at the University of York Audio Lab as part of the YCCSA Summer School Scholarship. Researched whether singing in virtual reality (VR) would have the same psychological benefits as singing in real life. The placement involved –- Working and communicating ideas with an assigned partner through placement.- Designing a test protocol to follow when performing experiments with participants.- Altering a pre-existing Unity Project and Max-MSP patch for our specific needs for our research project.- Working with experiment participants.- Taking brain electrical activity (EEG), heart rate, skin conductance and larynx activity measurements during experiments and analysing the data.- Report write-up and giving a presentation detailing research.
