Kevin Sweeney is Director - Assurance for Intertek, a global Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification company. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and has been with Intertek since June 2007. Responsibilities include the research and development of new services and markets for the Electrical and Network Assurance business line in the UK and Ireland. These include the Renewable Energy sector, Smart Grid and related technologies, Ecodesign and Energy Efficiency, Intertek’s Satellite Manufacturer’s laboratory program and more recently, the development of Consultancy services in support of manufacturers, retailers, end users and contractors. Kevin has over 20 years experience in Sales, Marketing and Business Development and 10 years in Electronic Design and Product Development. Previously Kevin was Sales and Marketing Director for ASTA BEAB Certification Services, a UK based independent Certification Body. Kevin played a major role in establishing and maintaining agreements and contracts with a broad range of test laboratories, certification bodies and manufacturer’s laboratories throughout the world including China, Japan, India, Australia and Europe. ASTA BEAB was acquired by Intertek in June 2007.Prior to joining ASTA BEAB, Kevin was Sales and Marketing Director for International Gas Apparatus, specialising in the design and manufacture of Gas Pressure Reduction Stations and Metering SystemsKevin’s early career was with Eurotherm (now part of Schneider) where he held various positions including Regional Sales Manager, Area Sales Engineer, Product Manager and Hardware Team Leader and various design roles.Kevin has a degree in Electronic Engineering, is married and lives in Horsham, West Sussex.
