In response to OARS, LLC becoming an EIVA reseller and training partner, Kevin Tomanka has recently joined the OARS team to begin regular EIVA course instruction while continuing to provide hydrographic services to geophysical, maritime, and energy companies world-wide.

Kevin provides project management, training, high-precision survey and geophysical imagery support to environmental, government, oil & gas, and telecommunications clients worldwide. He has experience conducting a wide range of surveys from very shallow water to full ocean depth using a full range of multibeam echosoundsers, side scan sonars, marine magnetometers and ancillary sensors including RTK GPS, motion sensors, gyrocompasses, GPS/Heading systems and USBL's.

As Hydrographer for David Evans and Associates, Kevin's responsibilities included both field and office support during single-beam and multibeam hydrographic surveys, and during post processing analysis and presentation. While at DEA, he served on hydrographic survey crews conducting shallow water multibeam and side scan sonar surveys for NOAA in Chesapeake Bay, Gulf of Mexico, and along the Oregon Coast. He has also taken part in critical surveys conducted for the Port of Portland and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

As Sr Hydrographer at Seafloor Systems Kevin was responsible for project and personnel management, Multibeam acquisition and processing, sonar installations and integrations as well as client relations and product development. While in the field for Seafloor Systems, he worked with the full line of Kongsberg and RESON multibeam systems including deep water systems like the EM120 and RESON 8150. In the office he worked closely with John Tamplin, President of Seafloor Systems, to develop the Hydrolite-TM one of SSI's most popular products. He also helped develop the web marketing and support of this and other products.

As a Hydrographer at Seafloor Systems Inc. Kevin was responsible for shipping, tracking, testing, and maintaining Seafloor Systems expanding lease pool. He also managed the website and was a technician on several multibeam, side scan, and geophysical exploration projects. While at Seafloor Systems he received focused training in the installation and calibration of Multibeam systems, RTK/GPS systems, Hypack/Hysweep software, and Caris HIPS/SIPS Processing software.
