Bailey, as most people call him, has 34 years of experience in the student affairs profession having worked at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, UNC Charlotte, Bowling Green State University, Millersville University, Tulane University and the University of West Florida before returning to UNC Charlotte as the Senior Student Affairs Officer in July 2017.Bailey has served elected or appointed positions in state, regional, and national organizations including the Southern Association of College Student Affairs (SACSA), ACPA and NASPA. He served as the NASPA 2018 Conference Chair and is a previous board member for Region III and the Foundation. He has delivered numerous presentations and is the co-author of book chapters in the Jossey-Bass Publications African American Men in College, Campus Crisis Management: A Comprehensive Guide to Planning, Prevention, Response and Recovery and the NASPA Publications Careers in Student Affairs: A Holistic Guide to Professional Development and Beginning Your Journey: A Guide for New Professionals in Student Affairs. He has also written endorsements for the 2nd and 3rd editions of the Student Leadership Challenge by Jim Kouzes & Barry Posner.Bailey is a well-rounded student affairs professional – involvement in professional associations; author and presenter, particularly in the area of crisis management; consultant; invited speaker; teacher; educator and mentor to undergraduate and graduate students and professional colleagues.Bailey holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Bowling Green State University. His master’s and bachelor’s degrees are from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is originally from Philadelphia, PA, is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and went to the same high school as Teller of the comedy/magic duo Penn & Teller and Larry of the Three Stooges. His fun fact is that he has never mowed a lawn in his life!
