Leading teams in both affordable housing operations and affordable housing development provides an all-encompassing perspective of the affordable housing sector. I am known for taking calculated risks and creating logical plans for success. I have devoted 20 years to redefining Aboriginal affordable housing in BC. Through forward-thinking, creative problem solving and using innovative solutions my team has tripled M’akola’s homes in BC and pioneered the path for building affordable housing on-reserve. With my team, I have transformed M’akola Housing Society to the largest Aboriginal affordable housing provider in BC serving 5,000 people. Through this growth, I have worked with a team of dedicated planners and housing development professionals enhancing the presence of M’akola Development Services (MDS), a non-profit development consulting firm. MDS specializes in developing affordable housing for non-profit organizations and First Nations. I have experience with P3 projects and working with First Nations Organizations, including First Nations on affordable housing, and property management. My work with M’akola has been highlighted nationally and internationally for both navigating the expiration of housing operating agreements and creating funding streams to develop new affordable housing. I have spoken on national and international platforms on my work in the affordable housing sector as well as being an affordable housing expert providing interviews to the media.
