The vision of The Gate Charity is:To serve the needs of the community by offering practical help for positive change. We will provide a safe and welcoming environment that is open to all, particularly the vulnerable, marginalised and homeless. A place where everyone will be treated equally, with dignity and recognised for their individual unique worth.Services provided to the community include, but not limited to:Food Bank - Started in 2010, we provide fresh and non-perishable food to those facing hunger. We respond the same day and we can tailor the food parcels to particular needs, such as those with no access to cooking or for those with young children.The Soup Pot - Starting with a handful of homeless people in 2004 the demand for our service has grown at an alarming rate and now, in the winter, we can provide up to 40 people twice a week with free soup, toiletries, warm clothing and small household goods.Starter Packs - Helping those who have been homeless sustain a new tenancy by supplying basic equipment which make a house a home. The packs include pots and pans, crockery, cutlery, kettle, toaster, kitchen utensils, cleaning materials, towels, toiletries and a small amount of instant food.
