  • Boar'S Head Resort
    Director Of Special Events
    Boar'S Head Resort Aug 2021 - Present
    Us
As the Director of Special Events at Boar's Head Resort, a Forbes Recommended property, I am a member of the resort's leadership team and oversee the planning and execution of all special events, including events for our resort guests, sports club members and the greater Charlottesville/Central Virginia community. In leading the department, I am responsible for the budget and hiring full-time and seasonal roles, as well as all steps of the event planning process. This includes launching our inaugural Winter Wander Trail of Lights in 2021, which brought in nearly 40,000 guests that first year. In 2022, we welcomed just shy of 60,000 guests for Winter Wander and had revenues over $1.8 million and profits over $900,000. 2023 saw direct profits from Winter Wander surpass $1 million. Through three years of the light show, profits have exceeded $2.5 million. Built out a year-round calendar of events to drive room nights, increase sports club membership value and enhance offerings for our local Central Virginia community. Enhanced and revamped our Summer Celebration Series which now includes a free First Thursday concert with food trucks, games and free beer/wine tastings, summer pool parties and bingo nights at the pool, trivia nights at Birdwood Grill, and large events on Memorial Day and Independence Day weekends with fireworks, live music, games, food trucks, bar and more. Annual events include a beer festival with over 25 breweries and 600 attendees, Summer Celebration series, Comedy Weekend, Murder Mystery dinner, Oktoberfest, Turkey Trot benefiting UVA Children's and more. In 2023, our annual Comedy Weekend and Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival each welcomed a record number of guests, over 700 throughout four shows at Comedy Weekend and just shy of 750 at the third annual Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival. Also, I work to create bespoke events such as spirit tastings and wine dinners that provide a high-level of service, engagement and experience for resort guests and members.
