In this role, I provided critical scientific analysis and research in support of a broad range of conservation projects and policies. My greatest contribution in this role was helping create a national-scale map of ecological conditions that could be used by the organization, government agencies, and nonprofits.

I served a five-year term on the Open Space Board of Trustees of the City of Boulder. Worked in field and lab on NSF-funded research tracking small mammal and insect species response to climate change in the the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado. Work included: managing field survey team, live trapping and tagging of small mammals, identification of insects and small mammals, vegetation surveys, proper safety precautions for Hantavirus and other mammal-borne diseases.

I served as a member of the advisor board for open space in the County of Boulder. My job was to evaluate issues of conservation, recreation and agriculture as the County manages its open space.

Worked to created business plans for ranchers interested in doing species and habitat conservation on their lands while maintaining viable cattle operations. My focus was on identifying ecological needs, determining the financial costs to ranchers and then helping to find funding from the government or NGOs to create appropriate incentives. Through this work more than 500,000 acres of privately-owned land Montana is seeing some form of conservation action.
