I co-founded BBK Studio in 1996. We developed quite a bit of notoriety creating design programs and websites from our work with Herman Miller, Knoll, Jaguar cars, and many others. In 2007, on our 10th year anniversary, we renamed the company Peopledesign to emphasize our focus on human-centered design and collaboration.

APDF, the Association of Professional Design Firms, is a 25-year-old organization focused on making better design firms. I'm in my fourth year being on the board – first serving as Brand and Social Media Marketing Chair, during which time I outlined a future strategic direction for the organization. I was Vice President in the second year, and President in my third year, when I began to roll out the new strategic plan. Now in my fourth year, I've gone back to lead marketing and help communicate the organization's evolved value proposition.

AIGA, The Professional Association for Design, is the oldest and largest industry group of its kind. There wasn't a local AIGA chapter in West Michigan, so we at Peopledesign decided to start one. I was selected as its its first president. Collaborating with local designers, we started the non-profit, organized a board, secured funding, held over 30 events, and enlisted over 350 paid members in two years.
