This team of National Delegates and National Contact Points (NCPs) possess deep domain expertise and directly help companies, Higher Education Institutions, researchers, citizens and other stakeholders to identify Horizon Europe project opportunities and submit competitive proposals - which leads to downstream economic, research and societal benefits for Ireland at national and regional levels. Managing national Horizon Europe-related financial and other supports, information tools and events. Supporting Enterprise Ireland’s direct participation in Horizon Europe projects as appropriate.

Working closely with colleagues to engage with and progress the investibility of Enterprise Ireland's overall pipeline of 3rd level deeptech spin-outs from across the research commercialisation system. Supporting spin-out founders to understand customer development, problem-solution fit, their MVP, product-market fit, founders-market fit, and the drivers of investor readiness and when and how best to engage with the wider startup and seed investment ecosystem to secure early-stage equity and non-equity finance locally and internationally. Working closely with Technology Transfer Offices and Startup Development Managers on spin-out pipeline progression. Leading, learning from, and working collaboratively with the ICT Commercialisation team on: (1) our commercialisation fund investments and derived project portfolio to generate ICT High Potential Start Ups (HPSUs) and (2) maximising industry benefits and impact from EI & IDA investment into ICT related Technology Centres. Member of the industry steering board of Ceadar (industry-led technology centre focused on Applied AI) and Learnovate (industry-led technology centre focused on the future of work and technology enhanced learning & development).

Enterprise Ireland's Business Partners Programme is a complementary commercial co-founders initiative that identifies, qualifies and introduces serial entrepreneurs ("business partners") to NewCo spin-out opportunities emerging from 3rd level. The business partner’s commercial experience matches the technical talent of the research scientists involved, with the business partner leading the commercial validation and investor readiness activities around a NewCo opportunity alongside the research scientist co-founders. If the relationship works well, it leads to the business partner ultimately joining the NewCo spin-out as a cofounder. Examples of spin-outs who have benefited from the programme include: OxyMem, KantanMT, Solvotrin, Reflective Measurement Systems, NanobOx, AmbiSense, Latch Medical, VorTech, Head Diagnostics, SepTec, BioSimulytics, CropBiome, Senoptica, Remedy Bio, Wrky, EpiCapture, Pear Labs, AudioSourceRE and Nexalus.

Finding and funding a portfolio of applied ICT commercialisation fund deeptech research projects involving research scientists across (at different times) TCD, UCD and NUIG to create commercially viable NewCo spin-outs that ultimately raised seed investment and parallel Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start Up (HPSU) equity co-investment. Project portfolio spanned all areas of B2B enterprise software and ICT. Introduced lean startup training for research commercialisation activities within EI and to research scientists we work with leading to the wider and still ongoing application of lean startup methodologies and frameworks to our deeptech project and spin-out portfolios.

The aim of the Technology Centres Programme is to deliver competitive advantage to industry in Ireland by accessing and exploiting the innovative capacity of the Irish research community. Technology Centres’ research activities are industry-led as they are defined (and refined) by its industry members with participating companies defining areas and themes of greatest commercial relevance to them collectively over a 3-5 year period. There are now 8 Technology Centres in the Programme. Was EI relationship manager for a number of different ICT related technology Centres over a period of several years.

Taftie facilitates training, access to expert knowledge, peer learning, benchmarking and the sharing of best practice amongst national innovation agencies to enable them to collaborate and better implement R&D, technology and innovation programmes within their respective countries.
