Project Highlight: Stronger Foundations: Alberta’s 10-year strategy to improve and expand affordable housing. Kevin worked collaboratively with Housing Policy Branch representatives and senior management of the Housing Capital Programs Branch to develop the capital cost model for Stronger Foundations: Alberta’s 10-Year Affordable Housing Strategy. The plan is expected to increase the affordable housing supply in Alberta by 25,000 units including the construction of 13,000 units of various housing typologies.Project Highlight: Through Building Forward: Alberta’s 20-Year Strategic Capital Plan. Kevin worked collaboratively with Alberta Infrastructure representatives, and senior management of the Housing Division including the Assistant Deputy Minister, Executive Directors and Directors to formulate a strategic direction for affordable housing in Alberta authored under Sector Nine: Supporting Housing and Inclusive Housing in Alberta’s 20-Year Strategic Capital Plan. Project Highlight: COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) Application. Kevin worked collaboratively with Alberta Infrastructure representatives, and senior management of the Housing Capital Programs Branch to prepare the Government of Alberta’s application for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program. Outcome: The application was approved and the governments of Canada and Alberta injected more than $31.9 million to complete crucial repairs and upgrades to seniors and family housing across 95 communities in the province. Project Highlight: Indigenous Housing Capital Program Review Panel Member. Kevin represented the Housing Capital Programs Branch for three years to evaluate and score over 50 indigenous off-reserve capital proposals and provide costing and operating sustainability advice to a cross-ministry review panel. Outcome: The Minister approved over a dozen projects including over 150 units of housing the panel recommended.

Project Highlight: Balwin Place and George’s HouseWorked closely with senior management to prepare applications and documentation to support executives in securing $4 million in capital grant funding for a 25-unit permanent supportive housing facility called Balwin Place and $0.4 million to upgrade an existing 6-space group home called George’s House. Outcome: Funding was approved by the Government of Alberta and these projects were completed and are now in operation.
