The Sands Fellowship awards funding and additional support to a select number of full-time MBA students who are tackling a project that seeks to address a social need.Together with JustUs Health, I began Positioned for Achievement, a program aiming to provide employment resources and opportunities to people living with HIV in the Twin Cities metro area. I addressed this need by building partnerships with other community organizations to provide a six-week workshop to people living with HIV that focused on areas like interviewing skills, resume writing, and protections of the ADA.I am currently assessing opportunities to establish these services on a more permanent basis. Joined team working on a project developing the optimal pricing strategy for emerging first-in-class MarTech offering. Owned design of plan for primary market research, conducted secondary research, and produced recommendations on value communication to client.Other projects: Structured approach for research into best-practice performance metrics for human resources stakeholders and leveraged contingent resource to execute plan to successful completion. Led team of three interns in devising process to be deployed by the team in future accelerated pricing projects.

In this brand-new role at the company, I was responsible to the CEO for implementation of projects touching all areas of our firm of 50 employees. Sometimes, these projects were high-priority items the CEO identified as needing my attention, such as the researching, negotiation, and launching of a new company intranet platform that dramatically improved communication across the company, or the complete revamping of marketing materials used by our business development representatives, resulting in steady YOY growth from 2015Q3 to 2016Q3 despite the unexpected departure of two reps. Other times, they were projects that I identified as opportunities to improve processes, as when I worked directly with outsourced resources to improve the process of savings validation, driving overall process time down by 15%.

In the role of Internal Auditor, I ensured standard compliance and correctness of all client reviews at numerous checkpoints from start to finish. I did not stop there, however: I worked to shorten the review life cycle by streamlining the process within and between stages, reducing inconsistencies and eliminating non-value-adding process steps. I also recommended to the COO the restructuring of audit teams to ensure that one team carried each review from start to finish. The goal was a reduced dependence on Internal Auditing, and the steps I took ultimately resulted in reducing audit time by 25% and the elimination of the position itself.

In my first role at SIB, I conducted the initial setup and formatting of client reviews, building reports in Excel to be used the entire life cycle of the reviews. This entailed direct interaction and coordination with clients' service providers, performance of contract and invoice analysis, and ensuring of proper storage of account documents. In this role, I developed proficiency with the Salesforce CRM platform, Microsoft Excel, and Google Drive.

USNA Assignments, First-Class (Senior) YearSpring 2014: Second Platoon Commander, Third Company - Set and oversaw execution of platoon-wide policies, delivered on policies and directives of the Company Commander, and ensured good order and discipline of 34 platoon members, assisted by one platoon sergeant and three squad leaders.Fall 2013: Training Officer, Third Company - Responsible to the Company Officer and Commander for creation and implementation of training program for 150 midshipmen, directed staff of six underclassmen in hands-on professional training of company’s 40 freshmen, and set incentives for completion of Midshipman Qualification Standards (MQS), resulting in Third Company placing 1st of five companies in First Battalion in MQS completion at semester’s end.Summer 2013: Executive Officer, Western China Trekking Expedition - Led group of five midshipmen in hiking the Tibetan Plateau in Sichuan Province, China, with the help of Chinese skills and despite lack of hiking experience; directly responsible to the trip’s Faculty Representative and USNA International Programs Office for completion of group’s pre-mission tasks, training, and paperwork, as well as safe mission completion.Summer 2013: Plebe Summer Squad Leader, Bravo Company - Directly responsible for the moral, mental, and physical transformation of 10 young men and women into professionally competent midshipmen during the first half of Plebe Summer, the intense six-week indoctrination phase that every midshipman must complete upon induction.

As an Area Manager at Amazon's MOD (Manufacture on Demand) facility in Charleston, SC, I was the on-the-floor leader of a $1.5 million daily production shift, responsible for all aspects of productivity, attainment, and quality goals and timelines, as well as workplace safety and personnel management and development. I got to cut my teeth as an operator of the incredible Amazon fulfillment infrastructure, leading a shift of 40-45 employees four nights a week. My proudest accomplishment, aside from hitting facility records in quality and productivity numerous times, was in the conceiving and management of a project to convert our site to new packing technology, decreasing annual labor costs by $125,000.
