I've used "social media" for marketing... since 1999 (no lie, keep reading)I would use AOL Instant Messenger, search AOL profiles, find people nearby, and then cut and paste IMs to them, promoting local concerts and nightclub events, while in college. I would use MySpace to host photo albums and build customer lists for bars and restaurants. I then used Facebook to build massive databases that allowed small local businesses to connect with their customers and not rely on having to rent traditional advertising audiences (tv/radio/etc). That's how Social Yeah started. Giving businesses access to their customers by hitting "post". We still do that today, except we now use Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Email. The story is the same. Your customers (and potential customers) want to hear from you (usually when there is something in it for them). When customers leave your store, they don't really think about you, right? They forget. That doesn't mean they don't want to come back, soon, it's just on them to think about you or drive by. But... If you get their email, or connect with them online -- you can reach out to them, anytime. It's that simple. Find your customers, produce great content, don't annoy them, and send offers. You should do this if you own a small local business. It's not rocket science.
