The Accountability and Disclosure Commission administers and enforces Nebraska statutes regarding campaign finance, conflicts of interest and lobbying. The Commission itself is a nine member body including the Nebraska Secretary of State who appoints four members with the remaining seats selected by the Governor. Supporting the Commission is an office staff dedicated to ensuring the civic transparency mandated by the law and deserved by the Citizens of Nebraska.As an Auditor for the Commission I am tasked with reviewing the campaign filings of candidate and ballot question committees that meet certain expenditure and/or donation thresholds under the Nebraska Political Accountability and Disclosure Act. Similarly, donors including Corporations, Independent Committees, Political Action Committees, Unions, etc. are also required to report under the Act. Most filings are submitted according to specific time tables related to elections, with ongoing committees filing annually until they are dissolved.When appropriate, I lead or follow in any position or situation I find myself. I can work independently or in a team setting. I consistently pursue excellence and expertise in the tools needed to produce desired outcomes for those inside the office and for the general public. Customer Service is a key component to any successful position at any level. My customers include Coworkers, Administration, Vendors and ultimately the Citizens of Nebraska that entrust me to perform and steward their tax dollars. As the Accountant at the Lincoln Regional Center LRC, a state hospital run by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Behavioral Health (DBH), my main responsibility was accounts payable. I processed and coded invoices, posted journal entries, and entered payments into the DHHS software. In doing so, many times I am interpreting contracts for DHHS/LRC liability.I was also responsible for the disbursement, receipting, and reconciliation of a petty cash fund. I published monthly state purchase card reports for DHHS accounting. Further, I worked on various projects such developing a database of the contracts for all of DBH.I did this with an eye on the missions of both the Lincoln Regional Center of "Helping People Rebuild their Lives" which correlates with the overall Health and Human Services Mission of "Helping People Live Better Lives". I provided excellent customer service to those inside state agencies and outside vendors. Similarly, I also had our patients and state taxpayers in mind as I am ultimately supporting their work and ambitions in being a steward of patient and tax dollars.

As a Staff Assistant for the State Unit on Aging, I support a team of professionals in accomplishing our mission "To promote the Dignity, Independence, and Freedom of Choice for Older Nebraskans". The Unit "provides a comprehensive and coordinated community-based services system to meet the needs of older Nebraskans". This includes a wide range of programs delivered throughout the state at our Area Agencies on Aging that reinforce senior nutrition, housing, civil rights and legal protection under the Federal Older Americans Act.I perform various duties including accounts payable, customer service, drafting correspondence, event planning, research and scheduling. More specifically, I answer older Nebraskan's questions about services available to them and help navigate the different points of contact. I regularly research statutes that pertain to our Unit's operations and how we monitor our Area Agencies on Aging. I've also been apart of planning statewide training events and scheduling travel.

While on temporary assignment, I performed accounts payable, collected financial data and prepared reports for administration on expenditures related to various programs under the Federal Older Americans Act. I examined all fiscal aspects of the State Unit on Aging. I analyzed and recommended improvements to monthly invoice processing and with my colleagues greatly improved their timeliness. I also conducted routine monitoring of fiscal programs in affiliated Area Agencies on Aging statewide, including audit style invoice testing, that focused on compliance with accounting best practices as well as state and federal statute.

As a Staff Assistant for the Nebraska Department of Children and Family Services (CFS), I performed Accounts Payable functions, provide outstanding Customer Service to vendors and colleagues, and assisted in Records Management supporting the efforts of CFS at all levels.In performing Accounts Payable functions, I processed more than $30 million in invoices annually for various programs.
