• Served as the tech lead on the IP Video Multicast project. Designed a system to stream linear adaptive bitrate video over multicast to a cache / client within the home. Worked with product management to convert requirements into development tasks. Lead a team of three full time engineers and two contractors to implement all components of the system. Implemented the Multicast Server (prototyped in Go, production implementation in Java). Delivered the solution on time.• Worked on a team to implement an MPEG-DASH linear video packager written in Go• Implemented an image capture application that extracts I-Frames from streaming video and converts them to still images (PNG’s). These images are then used in a client application as part of a mosaic / cover flow feature.• Designed and implemented a social Video-On-Demand trivia application. BNI focused on solving crucial problems for video service providers and their business partners.• Designed and implemented a system that received content and metadata from a legacy distribution system (ADI1.1, Tandberg catchers and AMSs) and executed a workflow to deliver content to disparate endpoints.• Modified an open source HTTP accelerator (Varnish) to meet customer requirements for a home-grown content delivery network.• Specified the requirements for a content delivery network management system.• Worked with a wide array of customers and providers to design customer solutions to specific problems.• Led an offshore (Beijing) development team.

ARRIS is a global communications technology company specializing in the design, engineering and supply of technology supporting triple- and quad-play broadband services for residential and business customers around the world. • Designed, implemented and deployed a real-time video capture and distribution server that became an integral component of the Time Warner Start Over solution. • Designed and implemented the ConvergeMedia Manager ISA Solution. Acted as the Time Warner Cable ISA subject matter expert.• Specified and implemented the ConvergeMedia Manager Concurrent integration. Worked directly with Concurrent Computer Corp. to define a set of interfaces and implemented the back-office component.• Designed and implemented an SNMP-based alert framework for ConvergeMedia Manager • Participated in the CableLabs VOD Metadata, Content Encoding, and Advanced Advertising specification working groups.

Cable Television Laboratories, Inc. (CableLabs®) is a non-profit research and development consortium that is dedicated to pursuing new cable telecommunications technologies and to helping its cable operator members integrate those technical advancements into their business objectives.• Designed, implemented, and maintained a web based project management system for the OCAP certification process• Worked closely with engineers from major consumer electronics and software companies on OpenCable specifications• Performed analysis and produced whitepapers on a variety of software solutions for the cable industry• Worked with engineers and executives from every major cable company to research next generation cable television architecture and devices.• Regularly gave presentations to large (100+) audiences of engineers and executives at conferences and meetings. • Delivered a 1-hour technical presentation to an audience of 300 engineers at the 2007 JavaOne conference.

Auspice developed Enterprise Control software that enabled businesses to integrate, automate and manage disparate network applications, data and devices in an orchestrated and autonomic fashion. As a software engineer I worked on a number of solutions for the nation’s largest MSOs. • Used an in-house SNMP stack to develop a Java and TLX (Auspice proprietary scripting language) based cable modem network monitoring tool used by operation systems support (OSS) staff at the network operations center (NOC). Assisted in the PHP based user front-end. Converted the solution to use MySQL instead of Oracle at customer request. Maintained the solution at the customer site for over two years while working on other development efforts and with other customers.• Worked with an Auspice architect and a team of engineers from a customer to develop a provisioning system to replace an existing legacy system. Responsible for writing modules (using Java and Expect) to issue commands to the Juniper and Cisco switches for provisioning. Used JDBC to an Oracle DB to track workflow and status. Wrote PL/SQL procedures for these calls. • Developed a tool to track cable modem utilization metrics using SNMP and DOCSIS MIBs. Tool was Java and TLX based, and stored its data in a highly optimized MySQL database. Wrote a PHP based front-end to the tool.• Acted as an engineering liaison for Auspice sales staff. Traveled to trade shows, spent significant amount of time at customer sites, and worked on pre-sales proof of concepts.
