Responsible for software systems engineering (embedded, GUI and user interaction) for satellite software, ground control software, integration and testing.This includes the management of related client engineering teams complying to goals set out by the project management structure (in aerospace projects), from initiation through all the phases to closure, in cooperation with project teams consisting of team members across a number of functional areas within the organization and at the client sites in South Africa and abroad.Leadership in Functional Area:The establishment of satellite embedded systems core competencies within the company in terms of knowledge, tools, processes, management and application.Supporting clients in the establishment of engineering processes and facilities and supporting client engineers software systems design, integration and testingPeople Development:Identifying where training requirements in project teams, local and abroad, and conducting performance management review sessions.

Responsible for the design and support and testing of software systems (satellite flight software, ground control systems software, communication and interconnect software).This includes the management and mentoring of client engineering teams on satellite software projects from initial design phase, implementation, completion and launch of satellite, commissioning and operational phases of the satellite systems.This is done in cooperation with different project teams consisting of member from South Africa and abroad.

Development of weapon systems and military related sub systems. Examples are Remote Weapons Systems, Fire Control and Directing Systems and Stabilized Video Sights.This included the development of electronic hardware systems, firmware and embedded software systems with the focus on FPGA driven designs.Designs are taken through all phases, from initial design phase, through development, environmental testing, field trials through to closure.
