For the last few years, I've been fulfilling the role of a senior software engineer in my team. My duties include:- Mentoring juniors and intermediates in the team- Liaising with stakeholders to negotiate their product/service requirements within their desired deliverable deadlines- Facilitated multiple JAD sessions with stakeholders, system and business analysts, and my technical developer team to ensure that all parties are aligned with the required solution- Designing the architecture at both application and server level for these required solutions- Planning team sprints and sprint deliverables- Running point on production environment investigations, and involving the relevant resources where necessaryI entered FNB's commercial code fest with two juniors from my team, which we won at the end of the hackathon. We built a prototype for a new banking platform that would allow for both existing FNB customers and completely new customers (ie. people who don't bank with FNB at all) to apply for FNB banking products and services, allowing for major growth in FNB's commercial banking customer base. This platform is currently being rolled out in phases into FNB's production environment, with the intention of offering all FNB products and services to banking and non-banking FNB customers.My team and I also launched a cash loan facility that allows for a bulk loan to be paid out to a business, after which FNB will claim an agreed upon percentage of the customer's turnover as the repayment facility on this loan. For this, we worked on a brand new payment API within FNB's commercial space, which will be used for new loan facilities going forward.

As part of my final project at Discovery Vitality, my team and I extended the functionality of the Vitality weekly reward programme to allow for other Discovery departments to hook in and utilise the same rewards platform. The solution we built allows for a configurable rewards journey unique to each customer, for each of their independent Discovery products (Vitality, Drive, Bank, Health, etc.). The solution was also previewed to the public for 10 weeks, allowing non-Discovery individuals to participate in the launch of the new rewards platform.In June 2019, I joined a new dev team at FNB to work on their nav» for business platform, which offered multiple financial reporting tools to businesses banking with FNB, most notably Insight360. Shortly after, we moved into FNB's commercial banking sector to build a new digital platform which allows for individuals and businesses to open business banking accounts with FNB, without having to visit a banking branch or customer service centre. My team's primary goal was to move most paper-based banking solutions to FNB's new online sales platform, allowing for a larger target audience for FNB's commercial banking suite.

Primarily involved in support for the Discovery Vitality customer-facing products and services, monitoring both infrastructure and application data health in real time to ensure that any production alerts are picked up and addressed ASAP, specifically using Splunk and Dynatrace. In addition to this, I was involved in rebuilding legacy solutions for Discovery Vitality's RESTful APIs, as well as the gamification of their weekly healthy rewards programme.
