After my experience at Tumblr, I wanted to try something smaller, with the goal of learning valuable skills for starting my own company someday. Prefer was a startup to power the future of work for independent professionals. I worked across the entire tech stack as needed for various stages of the companies product lifespan. Occasionally would also lend a hand in design when resources were strapped. As the company grew in size, I took on extra responsibilities of managing sprints, and providing mentorship for other developers.

After advising a few product teams at Tumblr, I was given the opportunity to manage the multi-disciplinary "Posts" team. In this role, I was responsible for some of Tumblr's largest post-Yahoo-acquisition projects, including playing a live NFL stream in all of Tumblr's properties, and creating an initiative that would lead to an all new mobile-first posting experience. Shortly after the NFL game, an Engineering Manager left the company, and I was given the opportunity to lead their remote GifMaker team, and in doing so stewarded the launch of GifMaker on Android.

The third Android Engineer hired at Tumblr, worked extensively on the Android app, making it an industry leading Android application. Pioneered advanced animation techniques, long before they had official framework support. The role evolved to also include advising Tumblr's various product teams on how to natively integrate their ideas into the Android ecosystem. Gave co-talk with Tumblr's Creative Director at SXSW on how Designers and Engineers collaborate at Tumblr.

Boutique Creative Agency. Worked directly with a high profile client to reimagine and recreate a modern version of their application for the 2013 Android landscape. The release was widely accepted as a vast improvement by media multiple media outlets, and won a "Material Design Award" from from Google.

Indoor Positioning Technology Startup. Developed the bulk of my engineering foundation here, working closely with Senior Java Engineers from nearby Jayway and Sony Ericsson. Primarily responsible for prototyping apps and services for pilot programs, leveraging our in-house positioning APIs.

Research project through a grant provided by NSF and IBM to develop an indoor positioning system for the blind. Worked directly with users to help test and develop an indoor navigation system, based on dead-reckoning algorithms we created.*Part time research position while in college
