I am an experienced academic in Sports Management at Hartpury University. As a social scientist I am passionate about understanding, evaluating and researching the areas of Community Development, Public Health, and various realms of Sports Management. I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and hold a PhD which focused on collaborative approaches to Monitoring and Evaluation with practitioners implementing realist methodology. My goals are to contribute to the fields of social change through knowledge translation with the intention to inform and guide future policy and practice through evidence. I am passionate about utilising realist methods of programme development and evaluation to make sense of how and why programmes work. At present I am pleased to embed this work in my role as Evaluation Partner for Active Essex Local Delivery Pilot and am also part of the National Evaluation and Learning Partner (NELP) consortium for Sport England’s Local Delivery Pilots. I have a strong track record in realist evaluation and income generation having carried out a number of evaluations in the UK across various disciplines. In the spirit of collaboration I currently lead the Realist Research and Evaluation Group (RREG) which is an interdisciplinary group of academics and practitioners mobilising realist approaches.On a pedagogical level I am proud of my achievements to date around academic and industry knowledge exchange. Notably at Solent I transformed the curriculum through my successful leadership of the BA Hons Sport Coaching and Development degree and pioneered the Community Innovation Programme (CIP) which empowered students through the curriculum to deliver innovative physical activity programmes in partnership with industry. At Hartpury I have carried on this passion for knowledge exchange through the recent formation of the Hartpury Sports Business Hub which links our students and staff with real world sports business opportunities.
