Hello!My name is Kevin, and I'm a software engineer with a background in Biology and Medicine. After graduating college, I worked full-time for one year as a medical assistant at The Retina Center in Gainesville, FL, helping to restore the vision of hundreds of patients. This experience is a large reason why I value inter-personal relationships so highly. Whether it's between myself and customers or myself and co-workers, I believe that everything becomes easier when we're good to each other. After spending some time in the medical field, I decided to re-evaluate my interests and found that most of them were technology related, so I decided to switch careers in early 2021 and attend App Academy.App Academy's 1000+ hour full-stack engineering program gave me the skills to become fluent in Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, React/Redux, SQL, CSS, HTML, and more. This rigorous course may have been challenging, but it allowed me to develop a strong passion for software development and opened the doors to a community of like-minded developers who I continue to support and rely on today. Since graduation, I have been working at App Academy as an Instruction Assistant, helping others change their lives in the same way that I did.When I'm not programming, I enjoy taking care of my saltwater reef tank (with Jelly and Bean the clownfish pair, Gooby the goby, Pete the pistol shrimp, assorted corals, and more) and playing video games. My favorite is currently Valorant, but I enjoy anything that keeps me in touch with my friends.Thank you for taking the time to read this far!
