Kevin Lee Email and Phone Number
I am very passionate about building intelligent systems for solving real world problems. Ever since my PhD research I have focused much of my work on applied R&D for example in hand writing recognition, signal identification, and bioinformatics classification. I have experience developing algorithms for both low and high number of feature datasets. The machine learning algorithms I develop are coded from scratch to optimize speed and allow for maximum tuning potential. During my research I have experience in developing novel solutions for problems I have not seen before. I may not know everything instantly but I believe that my ability to learn quickly and adapt to the needs of the problem have served me well in completing my PhD and in my current work. My current research projects in big data include MRI brain imaging analysis for early diagnosis of autism, and human gait parameter predictor system using low-cost methods. Consultation work and development of real world solutions for integration of machine learning modules and data analytics into existing workflow to create intelligent systems boosting productivity and usage of dark data. Specialties: intelligent algorithms for data analysis, forecasting, regression, modeling, software development, machine learning, system integration.

Assistant ProfessorUniversity Of Nottingham Feb 2013 - PresentSelangor, MalaysiaReceived government funding from the Higher Educations Ministry of Malaysia FRGS grant amounting to RM97.8k in July 2016 for the research project titled: “Real-time gait acquisition using nonlinear EMG analysis and extreme learning machine extrapolator”. The work proposed is based on a type of the single hidden layer feedforward neural network developed in my PhD thesis. The goal is to develop an algorithm that can predict gait parameters accurately with minimal sensing equipment in order to cut costs in real world usage of the laboratory imaging technology.Lead academic of an Industry linked research collaboration with Motorola Solutions Malaysia where a 5 year MoU was signed in 2013. From this collaboration I have brought in 16 yearlong projects at the level of undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as 5 projects under the short term summer research schemes. The content of these projects are protected under NDAs. I frequently liaise with industry managers directly to maintain a close relationship and consistently suggests and plan for new ways of working together. Module convener for:H63RDC Robotics, Dynamics and ControlH63MLB Mechatronics LaboratoryH54ACL Advanced Control System DesignH54ACD Advanced Control System Design with ProjectCourse content especially the projects are designed by myself, focusing in the areas of self-driving vehicles and automation systems.Lead curriculum designer for UNMC E&E and Mechatronics engineering summer school programmes 2015 & 2016.Lead in UNMC E&E engineering department for examination processes and student progressions since 2014. I represent the Malaysia campus in the annual exam board meetings in the UK to report on the Malaysian campus students and conduct meetings with stakeholders and external examiners.A member of the Internal Quality Audit team since 2015 where we conduct self-auditing of local departments or schools annually.Teaching quality awards in 2014, 2015, and 2016 -
