I helped to grow Yammer into the world's premier collaboration suite from ~100k DAU to 7MM DAU, and sold to Microsoft for $1.2B in 2012, where I continued in leadership with Yammer Product Engineering until 2018.Initially a hands-on, high-velocity product engineer, quickly scaled to a people-focused engineering leader.I built many engagement-driving features early in my tenure such as Address Book Import, "Avalanche" Invite, and Pages real-time collaborative documents. I also built Yammer's experimentation, A/B testing, dark launch, feature rollout, and analytics subsystemsOver this time I also built and/or oversaw global technical departments including Web Engineering, Data Engineering, Internal Services, Services Engineering, QA, Infrastructure, Operations, IT, and Security groups.These teams developed on a diverse and complex tech stack, including: Java, Python, and Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, HBase, RabbitMQ, Memcache, HAProxy, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Storm, Kibana, Riak, Cassandra, Vertica and Exchange Store clusters at scale. Much was automated using Puppet, Docker, Mesos, Marathon and Azure tooling across hybrid physical data center & cloud environments.

BFL formed as a pivot from another startup where I worked as a Tech Lead. As a solo full-time startup project, I built Dibs.net, a local sellers' marketplace similar to craigslist.org. Dibs.net was built entirely on AWS, which was just a year old at the time. Dibs.net sought to differentiate from craigslist by providing maps, map search, faceted search, reverse-geolocation, and buyer-seller transaction communications.Dibs.net was built with Rails, PostgreSQL, Solr, AWS, EC2, S3, JQuery, Google Maps, PostGIS.Although user growth was not strong enough to continue, Dibs.net served as proof of my entrepreneurial spirit and technical breadth & capabilities, and served well as a portfolio project for several years.

Corio was a trailblazer in the Application Service Provider (ASP) market, which was a precursor to the cloud. Our business was to lift-and-shift large ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, and Ariba from corporate datacenters and take over the operation and maintenance.I was brought on as the first and only Ariba systems expert.Corio was bought by IBM for $182M in 2005, where I continued to work until early 2007.
